This surf movie poster uses color in a successful way. First, the movie title is in a light shade of blue that relates to the ocean. It is vibrant and adds the pop out effect to the title so viewer's can read the locate the title easily. Second, the red box causes the white text to pop out and then the artist has added an interesting technique of changing the shade of red darker and putting the lighter red text over it. These simple techniques make the design interesting yet are very minimal and simple. Also, you can notice that the subjects that are colored are "block" shapes, don't have any flow. That is good though because those colored shapes help to emphasis the lines that make up the surfer. The illustration is very flowing and exudes movement and direction. Eventhough the illustration is just a few simple lines it is leading you from the title to the cast information on the bottom. In the end, color in this poster design is used simply to emphasis important subject matter.
